As a Web Designer myself, I spend a lot of time trawling through tonnes and tonnes of websites looking for that spark of inspiration ensuring my design’s are fresh and adapt current web trends.

More often then not, the websites that stand out are the ones use bright, bold and effective color scheme’s and these are the ones I tend to remember. Here are 58 website’s I have picked that are all great in their own individual way. Most have used strong, bright colors, where as others have kept it minimal but in a way it still makes the outcome fantastic. Let me know your favorites…

Great looking sites. I couldn’t help but notice, however, they are predominantly weighted toward design and “Web” firms. I would be interested to see a list that contained great sites by “normal” companies, especially those in more “stodgy” industries like finance, insurance, manufacturing. Why? Because I think it’s easy for a design firm to put out a great site for themselves – that’s what they DO. But it seems harder to get most “real world” companies to adopt new styles due to internal politics, inertia, conservatism and what not. So having a site list non-design/non-Web companies with great sites gives ammunition to someone working in one of those industries (I work for a financial firm) to show that there are other companies in the same industry who “get it.” Because often what management is looking for is validation that their site won’t be the only one on the ‘net that “looks like that.” I hope that makes sense.

Great list, it shows some really nice companies. But the sharing sidebar that floats to the left overlays the content on my netbook screen, with no way to size my browser larger, it would be far more useful as a static element under the content of a post.

I noticed you deleted my other comment, why not take constructive criticism? You can’t be right 100% of the time you know.
