Three Innovative Ways To Show Off The Social Buzz In Your Wordpress Comments
Now that the Internet transformed all of us in Twitter addicts, Digg freaks, Facebook fanatics, FriendFeed maniacs, and God knows what else, we should get over it and gather all of this social media buzz in one place. And no place is better than our first addiction – the blog sweet blog. In this small roundup we have a hot newcomer, two established services, and a fresh bonus. Please share your thoughts in the comments (where else?!)
ECHO
Echo is… the way to share your content, and watch the live reaction. Publishers can quickly embed Echo on any site and turn their static pages into a real-time stream of diggs, tweets, comments, ratings and more. Echo is currently in Private Beta but looks sexy enough to wait for it.
Disqus, pronounced “discuss”, is a service and tool for web comments and discussions. The Disqus comment system can be plugged into any website, blog, or application. Disqus makes commenting easier and more interactive, while connecting websites and commenters across a thriving discussion community.
Intense Debate
IntenseDebate comments enhance and encourage conversation on your blog or website. Fire up the debate with commenter profiles, reputation scores, and OpenID. With IntenseDebate you’ll tap into a whole new network of sites with avid bloggers and commenters. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
Bonus – CommentBits
CommentBits is for any of you who have ever gotten to the point in creating a WordPress theme where you groan because it’s time to work on the comments. Designing and creating the CSS for comments on WordPress themes can be a real pain sometimes. One option you now have is to pick up a ready-made comment style.
PS: I find it funny that two of these three big players in the social comments field have ALLCAPS identities. Just a thought :]

Very nice roundup, a couple I wasn’t aware of. Echo and CommentBits look good.

I find that a lot of these solutions do work, but if you’re looking to just set up a simple Wordpress blog it is sometimes not even worth the effort and it’s easier to just use the built-in commenting system.
