Magazine Inspiration #1 bright colors
I know websites are more convenient and accessible with the RSS and all, but magazines will always be a huge inspiration source, so we are starting a new column. Magazine Inspiration will gather weakly articles about inspirational printed stuff. This week we have two new mainstream releases and four indie projects. Cheers!
The may issue of WIRED is entirely dedicated to mystery, riddles & all things magic. No wonder that the guest editor is JJ Abrams of the Lost, Cloverfield and Star Trek fame. They say the idea started from a highly inspirational speak at Ted called JJ Abrams mystery box. More on this cover story in the New York Times and Society of Publication Designers.
The new issue of Esquire UK is also focused on the new Star Trek movie, with a stunning minimal cover by Noma Bar – he doesn’t have a website or portfolio, but you can see a few works in Creative Review or you can buy his book on Amazon.
And last but not least if you’re a magazine freak, you should definitely try these things: Stack – the random indie magazine subscription service (more on this in the magCulture blog) and Lauren DiCioccio‘s paintings from the Vogue text pages. Any other suggestions?
